Food handlers can learn about food inspections, permits and available courses.
The Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District encourages restaurant owners and staff to ask a restaurant inspector to show their City of Corpus Christi identification if they are visited by someone for an inspection. A City-County Health Inspector will always have identification on them. The Health District does not charge for restaurant inspections and inspectors do not accept money on site.
If re-inspection becomes necessary, there will be an inspection fee. The fee is to be paid at the office and not during re-inspection.
Copies of food handler permits and issuance of food establishment permits are available at the 2406 Leopard, Frost Bank Building location, not at the Health Department building.

Food Handlers Course
The Health District offers a Food Handlers Course. Classes are held at the Health Department, 1702 Horne Rd.
Class Fee : $10.00 - Cash Only
Please arrive 30 minutes before the class begins for registration.
Every Monday from 9-10:30 a.m., 3-4:30 p.m., 5:30-7 p.m.
(On City holidays that fall on a Monday, class will be held on the following business day.)
Every 3rd Thursday of the month from 3-4:30pm. Clases en Espanol se ofrecen cada tercer Jueves del mes a las 3pm, hasta alas 4:30pm

A fee of $15 will be charged for each food manager's permit issued, and it shall be valid for two years from the date of completion.
